This Month at Myriad Penrith we will be learning Sumi-e (Chinese brush painting) with artist Irene Sanderson.
Tue 11th June, 6.30-8.30pm, £8, Penrith Old Fire Station.
Book Now – http://bit.ly/sumiepenrith
Sumi-e, meaning ‘ink-painting’, expresses clearly one’s state of mind by the simple skills of handling a brush and ink so it is for everyone!
This workshop is an opportunity to use the materials and practise techniques along with an overview of approaches to this way of working of the Far East.
An introduction will be given to the Treasures of the Studio, the Eight Eternal Laws and the Four Friends.
Tickets are £8 which you can pay on the door.
Please make sure you book through the eventbrite like above, this workshop is limited to 12 people.
Use of her brushes and inks along with 20 sheets of paper is included in the fee. (You can purchase more paper for 10p a sheet, also worksheets with the techniques are 20p if you wish to take them away)
Please bring if you can:
tubes of watercolour (any quality would be fine), three water pots (half-pint at least), four white flat saucers for mixing tones (not the best china!).
AND please bring an old shirt or apron to wear as this ink stains!
Also if you have anything at home which you wish to discuss, materials or pieces of work for example, Irene would love to see them and perhaps be able to give some helpful insight or advice or comment.
Any questions… just get in touch!
Look forward to seeing you all,
